Nottingham Forest’s Aimee Claypole has been nominated for the FA WSL2 Player of the Month award for December.
The striker scored three goals in three games for Forest who sit sixth in the second-tier of the women’s game after 16 matches.
The former Reading Academy forward joined Forest in the summer after graduating from Chelsea’s academy and scored three times in December, including a Player of the Match performance in the Women’s FA Cup game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Claypole joined Forest in the summer on a two-year deal from Chelsea where she’d made a handful of first-team appearances. She spent last season on loan in the Swedish top-flight with Linkoping FC and at Durham where she was voted as the Barclays Women’s Championship (now WSL2) Player of the Month for March.
She was one of 15 new signings by manager Carly Davies in the summer with two other names very familiar to Berkshire football-watchers, Welsh-midfield dynamo Rachel Rowe and Canadian star Deanne Rose.
Aimee is one of two Forest players in line for a December WSL2 award, with Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah nominated for Goal of the Month. Her fellow nominees for player of the month are ex-Arsenal and England star Jordan Nobbs (now with Newcastle United), Bristol City’s Emily Syme and Crystal Palace’s Kirsty Howat.
