Jordan Blake steps in to support Woodley United Ladies after Iestyn Llewellyn’s departure

You’d have thought masterminding a turnaround that saw your side go from a great escape on the final day of the season to top of the league and unbeaten after 18 games would be enough football for some people.

Not Jordan Blake, the Woodley United men’s first team manager.

That’s because in recent weeks, the Kestrels boss has been supporting the clubs women’s team by assuming managerial duties following the departure of Iestyn Llewellyn after a short spell in charge.

Blakes one game in charge was a 1-1 draw with Badshot Lea, the teams first point of the Southern Region Women’s League Premier Division season, with the goal coming from Megan Giles.

Blake said: “The club’s board asked if I could help out a few weeks ago after the manager left, which I was only too happy to do.”

Writing on social media following the draw, he added: “Delighted to help out Woodley Women as interim manager on Sunday afternoon with a positive point in the right direction after a difficult start to the season. Always want to help out and support the football club where I can in any capacity.”

Blake’s mind will now be firmly back on Combined Counties League Division One action following three games in seven days for his table-toppers.

The Kestrels dismantled Hillingdon Borough 4-1 in front of Football in Berkshire at the Rivermoor nine days ago. That was followed up with a 3-2 win at Sandhurst Town on Monday night and a 5-2 win at Langley on Friday.

Woodley’s men’s side are back in action at home to Hillingdon in the Division One Cup on Tuesday night (7:45pm) while the women’s team host Beaconsfield Town at Bulmershe Pavilion on 9th November when it is understood a new manager will take charge.
