Cherry Preisner is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Young Player of the Season (Female) sponsored by Procision Football Academy.
The stopper played 17 times for Reading last season and was the star of several cup penalty shoot-out wins, including a County Cup tie in front of hundreds of spectators against Caversham United.
One nomination for the award said: “Cherry is one of the most talented goalkeepers I have ever played with and that’s without taking into account her age! I cannot still to this day believe she’s only 16. She has saved us this season and all of us appreciate everything she has done. Cherry will go far in football and life there is no doubt about it. Her attributes to the game are unmatched and I’m so proud of how far she has come, everything she has achieved, and everything she will achieve. I think she truly deserves this award for Young Player of the Season because she is Young Player of the Season! Not to mention she also saves penalties for fun.”
Another added: “At just 16 years old, Cherry embarked on her first season in women’s football as the Reading FC Women’s number one. She has been a shining light in what has been a very difficult season for the team. Her performances have been nothing short of incredible and way beyond her years. She was the team’s hero in cup competitions, saving four penalties in four shootouts.”
