Aimee Claypole in running for Barclays Women’s Championship award

Berkshire-born striker Aimee Claypole is up for a monthly award in the Barclays Women’s Championship – the second tier of the women’s game in England.

Claypole is on loan at Durham Women from Chelsea for the second half of this season and scored five goals in two games during March, including a first senior hat-trick in a demolition of Portsmouth.

The Durham forward is up against London City and Sweden international Kosovare Asllani, Newcastle United’s Beth Lumsden and Charlton Athletic defender Gracie Pearse.

The Barclays Women’s Championship Player of the Month vote is open to the public and you can cast yours here.

The Berkshire youngster has featured in the Women’s FA Cup and FA WSL for Chelsea but has spent the last 18 months getting first team experience on loan at Lewes in the Championship, Linkoping in Sweden and Durham since the turn of the year.

She signed a contract with Chelsea in November 2023, until 2025 with an option to extend by a year.

She worked her way through the age groups with the Blues since 2015 and made her debut for the first team under Emma Hayes in the Women’s FA Cup in 2022. In season 23/24 she went on to make her WSL debut.

Claypole began her footballing journey with Whitegrove in Bracknell before moving on to Reading FC. She has represented Finland at youth level as well as England up to under 19 level.
