An emphatic display from Maidenhead United crowns them Women’s Senior Cup champions for the first time in their club history having reached the final stage three times previously and suffering defeat at the hands of Milton Keynes Dons.
The Magpies faced off against Newport Pagnell Town at Hollways Park, the home of Beaconsfield team. With 15 minutes on the clock, Nat Cowell snatched a rebounded goal after Mia Parker’s initial striker was saved and just five minutes later, Cowell was well placed in front of goal again when she capitalised on a keeper error.
Whilst fans may have been worried as they were forced into a few early substitutions, they headed into half time with a 2 goal cushion. Newport raced out in the second half with a free kick grabbing them one back after just three minutes. But Macey-Nikiah Walters proved her cup-scoring skills once more and fired home to lead Maidenhead 3-1 with 15 to go.
