Berks County’s Steve Kay is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Volunteer of the Season.

Kay is on for a hat-trick in this category having won it twice before in 2018 and 2020.

The nomination we received for the award said: “Steve is Mr Berks County. Be it our youth teams or adult sides he is always there to help and do his best for everyone. If he isn’t doing all of the clubs admin he’s cutting the pitches for our junior sides to play on. On any given Saturday he’s seemingly in three places at once at times all for the benefit of the club. Not only that he is our Thames Valley Premier League development side manager too bringing through talented young adults giving them the platform to go on to play for the first team. Without Steve we have no club. Simple as that.”

Another said: “Steve Kay does everything for Berks County FC that spans across multiple teams and ages. Constantly giving up his spare time to source kit, admin, get matches, referees, put on training/coaching sessions and manage one of the teams, he truly does it all.”

Another simply said: “He really is a fantastic guy. Works hard, dedicated and deserves the recognition after such commitment to the club.”

Agree that Steve Kay should be up for the Volunteer of the Season award? Or do you have someone else in mind? Let us know in the nomination form below:
