Berkshire football shirt auction in aid of Launchpad Reading

The auction opens on Wednesday 21st June at 6pm

Boost their chances:

At the 2023 Berkshire Football Awards we thought we’d try something a little different to raise some valuable charity cash.

As part of the awards night on Wednesday 21st June – hosted by Sky Sports News’ Tom White at Double Barrelled Brewery in Reading – we are holding a Silent Football Shirt auction with items donated by our local clubs. We have 17 shirts available to bid on at the time of writing

It’s not just your Ascot’s, your Holyport’s and your Windsor’s thought, we’ve also got a very special set of shirts designed to help fund a Futsal tournament in the Federated State of Micronesia – if you want to know more about why we’re doing this, head here.

The silent auction will raise money for Reading homeless charity Launchpad, based in the town centre. From their website: “Launchpad is Reading’s leading homelessness prevention charity, providing vital information and support for individuals, couples and families who don’t have a stable place to live or are at risk of losing their home.

“With your support and generosity, last year we helped over 1,100 people in housing crisis in Reading to get back on their feet.”

How to make a bid

Football in Berkshire has set the auction up with GalaBid. All you need to do to be part of it is head to https://app.galabid.com/berkshire-shirts and click on the ‘Register’ button.

You can register in advance, but the auction opens on Wednesday 21st June at 6pm and will close on Friday 23rd June at 5pm.

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED!

Yes! The awards are taking place at the marvellous Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading and we’ll have food available. Tickets will be limited but on sale from 28th May. If you’d like to know when, so you don’t miss out, make sure you’ve signed up to our email newsletter here.

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.

What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.

The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2024/25 season.

We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.

You can view all the 2025 nominees so far here.

Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.

Nominations will be open until midday on Monday 26th May 2025.

The Long List will be published on Wednesday 28th May and the Short List on Friday 30th May.

Once the nomination window has closed, the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top four announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 18th June.

We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.

  • All nominations are done by you, the Berkshire footballing public
  • You can nominate as many people as you like for each award – the quantity of nominations counts for the judging panel..
  • That said, quality is just as important, the more detail you provide about why you are nominating, the better
  • Please try and avoid nominating your own family members
  • Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
