Reading City boss Simon Johnson is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Manager of the Season sponsored by Eddie Stobart Logistics.
Johnson led his side to third place in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North, narrowly missing out on an inter-step play-off that could have brought promotion to West Reading.
One nomination for the award said: “Simon has built a fantastic team spirit in the squad this year and achieved a club record high finish. Reading City were the only realistic challengers to Ascot for a long time and spent the majority of the season in the top two before unfortunately falling away in the last couple of weeks. The team did not lose their first league game until Ascot away in January which was a great achievement in itself.”
Another added: “Simon has transformed Reading City from Hellenic strugglers to Step 5 title contenders over his time in charge. He has proven adept at getting the best out of players and pushes young footballers into his teams without fear, and is regularly rewarded with performances.”
