Make or break for Windsor with status on the line

Royalists face defining Tuesday night at Stag Meadow

Windsor have one final chance on Tuesday night of retaining their Step 5 Combined Counties League status but must rely on results elsewhere in their bid to avoid relegation.

Mick Woodham’s side are 19th of 20 in the division and two points behind Chalfont St Peter in 18th while Oxhey Jets are bottom and three five points adrift. All three teams have one game yet to play.

It has been a difficult season for the Royalists with off-the-pitch uncertainty surrounding a possible sale of the club and unrest amongst the supporter’s group, Great Park Crew.

On the pitch, the maths are simple. Windsor must beat Virginia Water a Virginia Water side that could well finish 6th, at Stag Meadow and hope Harefield United beat Chalfont.

A relegation to Step 6 would be the lowest Windsor, or predecessor Windsor & Eton had competed in post-war football.
