It looks like some brief relief is in sight for non-league clubs faced with the nightmare of trying to fit all their games in before the end of season 22nd April cut-off.
With some clubs facing games every day of the week until the end of the season, sources suggest the FA is u-turning on the idea of an extension.
Weather is chief among the culprits for such a big backlog of games this season with matches still being postponed for waterlogged pitches in April
The Combined Counties League issued a statement on Wednesday that went through all the various issues and what might happen were the hard deadline to be kept.

Overnight, Football in Berkshire learned there was likely to be an extension and the Wessex League via Social Media appears to have confirmed that.
The 2022/23 season extension dates expected
Step 5: The Wessex League post shows the season is likely to be extended, but only by a matter of days, from the 22nd April to the 25th April if a club is involved in promotion or relegation.
Teams not involved in those scenarios are able to play until Monday 1st May.
Play-off game to take place on Saturday 29th April.
Step 6: Fixtures to be completed by Monday 1st May 2023. Play-offs completed by Monday 8th May.
