The Southern Region Women’s Football League (SRWFL) is set to add a third division to the ranks as the committee intends to expand the Tier Six league. The Premier division shall remain, whilst the Division One South will be split regionally into the Southern Division and the Northern Division.
It’s currently unconfirmed which teams will make the move but as we understand it, teams from Division One and Two of the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League have been invited to make the move.
For Berkshire, that includes Caversham United Women, Mortimer Ladies, Tilehurst Panthers and Wargrave Women in Division One and Slough Town Ladies in Division Two. We believe at least two teams intend to make the promotion jump, the clubs will join Ascot United Ladies and Woodley United Ladies, who play in the Premier division. As well as Eversley and California should they opt to stay in the league after a tricky first season in Division One South.
For the county and for us at Football in Berkshire, it’s an exciting prospect to see the expansion of the women’s game and we wish every success to the league and the clubs that make the move in the pyramid development.
