Ascot United’s Racecourse Ground has earned a Berkshire Football Awards nomination in the Calibra Tree Surgeons Best Ground category.
The home of the Yellamen and Yellawomen since the 1960s in the middle of the world-famous Ascot Racecourse had a serious upgrade in 2019 and now boasts an artificial pitch and improved facilities that include the new Ascot Sports Bar with significant outdoor seating and cover.
The ground came to the fore recently, hosting Wycombe Wanderers in the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup semi-final, a match which saw the grounds record attendance broken – it now stands at 1,267.

One nomination said: “A massive amount of time and effort has been invested into the ground and surroundings. The facilities are arguably step 3 or 4 standard. Great catering facilities and a dedicated sports bar. A new outdoor drinking area with outside TV is now a permanent fixture. Excellent changing facilities including a digital tactics board and outside media board.”
Another simply said: “The grounds and pitch are great. The clubhouse and facilities are well kept, clean and accessible to all.”
Do you think the Racecourse Ground is a worthy winner, or have you got other places to tell us about (find out what we’re looking for in Best Ground here)? Scroll down to fill out the nomination form for the Calibra Tree Surgeon Best Ground award.

Scroll down to the bottom of this article for the nomination form. Before you do that though, here’s what the judging panel are looking for when choosing the shortlist.
What’s the story? Tell us exactly why the person or place should be considered. We hate to get all ‘X Factor journey’ on you but the more detail you can include, the better we can argue for your nominee for the short list.
The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2023/24 season.
We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.
You can view all the 2024 nominees so far here.
Want to know who’s previously won what at the Berkshire Football Awards? There’s a big long page with all the previous winners here.
Nominations will be open until midday on Monday 27th May 2024.
The Long List will be published on Wednesday 29th May and the Short List on Friday 31st May.
Once nomination window has closed, the nominations in each category will be put before a panel of judges for a decision, the top four announced online and the winners at the awards night on Wednesday 19th June.
We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.
- You can nominate as many people as you like for each award
- Please try and avoid nominating your own family members.
- Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
