Ryan Taylor is set to make his managerial debut in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup debuts this weekend as Maidenhead United Women travel to fellow league outfit Chesham United in the Third Round Qualifying of the inaugural competition. Here’s what he had to say.
Pre-game thoughts
“It’s a competition for the traditionalist. When I first took the role, it was definitely one of the first dates I looked for on our playing schedule. So, I am excited and hopeful we can progress into the first round proper. A cup run in this competition would be a welcome addition for our squad.”
Opponents
“Nothing changes in terms of our preparation for a cup fixture, it’s all about executing our game plan on the day. We had a very close game with them at the beginning of the season, in a game which could have gone either way. We are looking forward to having another extremely competitive derby fixture, with the added spice of it being an FA Cup fixture.”
Squad atmosphere
“The players are focussed on the task at hand, we have had a really good week of preparation, following on from our friendly match against Hounslow last Sunday. It’s also great to have the signing of goalkeeper Alice East completed, meaning she will go straight into the match day squad for Sunday.”
