Please forgive the unorthadox way this news story is written, but when I was the manager of Bracknell Town Ladies Reserves, and latterly Binfield Ladies, Abi Dixon was a proper character in the team.

She turned up to training one week, I think egged on by a friend, and quickly became part of the group. A distinctive laugh and full of chat, not afraid to ask questions and would often try to train in ridiculous jumpers and jackets.

She’d give absolutely everything for the team anywhere on the pitch which is why, when I saw the other day on Facebook she was going to take part in the Paris Marathon in 2021, I thought I’d try and help her hit her modest goal of raising £150 for Cancer Research UK.

She certainly doesn’t know I’ve written this, but if you were able to help her meet her target I’d really appreciate it. Her donation page is here.
