With such a chaotic and stilted season this year, the chances of an actual Football in Berkshire awards ceremony were slim to none. So instead our team of writers nominated their own choices for the categories this year and as it’s ‘volunteer week’ we thought we’d round all of our much appreciated ‘Volunteers of the Season’.
FiB editor, Tom Canning’s choice.
Victoria Pyke – spoken of in revered tones whenever I have visited The Rivermoor in the last 12 months. Victoria drove the many improvements you can see around the ground and has pushed the club on as well as keeping on top of the many financial and secretarial tasks in the background.

Our Maidenhead United and interview expert, Neil Maskell’s choice.
Rich Harvey. Whether it is pitch prep or painting, Rich does so much to help in the background at Holyport FC.
Our Women’s Football Correspondent, Abi Ticehurst’s choice.
Neil Graham, we wouldn’t have so many of the quality images you find across the FiB website if it wasn’t for the hard he puts in week in, week out across the grounds of Berkshire and beyond, he’s been paramount to my reporting, be that of Reading or our county leagues, including Neil’s photos is a privilege. He’s so incredibly devoted to the development of youth football at FC Bracknell too, working tirelessly to promote them and I was honoured to be amongst the people he picked to promote Children’s Mental Health Week for the club. A man of the people!

Our resident Futsal writer, Alicia Povey’s choice.
There’s too many here to name just one. This year has been impossibly hard for so many, and every single volunteer involved with keeping football going in Berkshire and beyond deserves a massive shout-out. It’s so often a thankless task, and I hope that players, coaches, managers, fans and anyone who is even remotely part of the footballing community do their bit to make sure all volunteers are supported and celebrated when grassroots makes its return.
A big thank you to all the Football in Berkshire contributors too who dedicate their time to covering all our local clubs and teams.
