Reading FC Women return to action this weekend as they face title-contenders Chelsea at home for the first time this season. Just over a year has passed since the Royals last faced Chelsea after the Women’s Super League season was curtailed due to the pandemic.

Perhaps one to forget for Reading however, as Moloney was red-carded at the 18th minute for a foul on Kerr and Chelsea slotted three past the 10-woman, Reading for a convincing victory that undoubtedly helped them clinch the title on PPG.

The return of top-flight women’s football also means the homecoming of former Reading resident and player, Fran Kirby, who was plagued by a viral infection that led to pericarditis.

Kirby has looked her sharpest and arguably, most in form in years this season for Chelsea and has proven again, to be a squad asset with three league goals and three assists.

A hard fought battle will be anticipated for Reading, but the 3-1 win over Brighton will have them in good spirits with no let up expected for them against one of the ‘big three’.

Kick off is at 2pm on Sunday 10th January and the game is available to watch on The FA Player. @fiberkshire will have live updates on Twitter.
