I’ve written a bit about the changes we’re making to Football in Bracknell here, but in order to lift the cup at the end of the season we’re going to need to beef up our squad.
That means written contributions, photos and sponsors for our site which currently averages 15,000 readers a month.
If you’re reading this on this site though for the first time, we’re a volunteer run not-for-profit blog that aims to increase the interest in non league football around Bracknell, and now Berkshire.
18 months ago we recruited Rob Davies to our team to cover the step 6 clubs in our patch and he’s done a brilliant job expanding the column inches for those clubs as well as getting out to watch the teams.
I asked Rob to write a few words on the experience. He said: “This has been my first season writing for Football in Bracknell and I have really enjoyed the experience. It has been really good to gain a greater knowledge of local football whilst going to games and meeting some of the people involved.
“Before joining FiB I had no experience of published writing so it has been gratifying to develop a new skill and try something new whilst becoming part of a local community. The support from Tom and the rest of the team has made the process fun filled and pressure free.”
What are we looking for?
All we’re really looking for in a correspondent is one piece a week (if you want to do more that is okay – and obviously time permitting) on whatever area you wish to cover. No experience necessary (spelling and grammar is useful) but a passion for the non league game is what we’re looking for.
Ideally we’d like people to help us cover the following:
- Reading Women FC, Southern Region and Thames Valley Women’s Leagues
- Vanarama National League (Maidenhead, Slough)
- Allied Counties Youth League
- Reading Sunday League
But we’re also open to any and all ideas you may have!
Email editor@footballinbracknell.co.uk for more details!
Photography
We’re also on the lookout for people who might be able to contribute photos for any of those competitions to help us promote them and the clubs themselves.
Sponsor/Advertise
The site itself, at last check costs around £450 a year to run, that’s servers, domain name and a few bells and whistles.
We try to recoup this by running ads for local businesses for a one off £100 for a full season of advertising.
If you’d like to advertise please take a look at further information here.
If you are able to help or interested in getting involved with any of these things at all, please email editor@footballinbracknell.co.uk
