Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West side North Leigh United have withdrawn from the competition with immediate effect.

A post on the Hellenic League website revealed the news and the club have already been removed from the FA Full Time website.

The statement said: North Leigh FC have advised the League of their decision to fold their North Leigh United team and withdraw from the Uhlsport Hellenic League with immediate effect.

The League has no option but to accept the club decision and therefore all records relating to the current season in Division One West have been expunged.

The club, which has had an association with the Hellenic League for over 40 years, state “The reasons behind this very sad decision are numerous”. Citing team management changes, financial burden of the team, poor performance on field, and being unable to field the statutory minimum number of players required for a game.

The club added. ” May we apologise to the League, it’s management committee and fellow Hellenic clubs. Looking forward we believe we can overcome these current problems and hope that if matters improve and we re-group we may be permitted to apply for membership of the Hellenic League next season.”

With the clubs record already removed, and as irregular watched of Division 1 West, there is very little we can tell you about how the sides removal will affect the league. The clubs record has been expunged meaning all results no longer count and presumably New College Swindon will now progress from the group stage of the Subsidiary Cup.

Division One East had already seen the resignation of Bicester Town during the season while Abingdon Town remain under threat of closure. The Premier Division is running with just 19 teams after Oxford City Nomads withdrew on the eve of the season.
