Ex-Reading under 21 captain Aaron Kuhl makes Bracknell Town cameo

Anyone attending Saturday evening’s pre season derby friendly between Bracknell Town and Wokingham & Emmbrook armed with a knowledge of the Reading FC squad over the last few seasons might just have noticed a familiar face in the centre of the park.

Aaron Kuhl, the Royals former under 21 captain was getting some minutes in midfield for the Robins as they beat their neighbours 4-0 and even got in on the scoring after 6 minutes.

Kuhl in fact had a hand in three of the four goals on the night – teeing up Callum Whitty and Devontae Romeo as Bracknell setup a fixture with Eversley & California on the Sunday.

The 21-year old joined Reading in 2008 and lifted the Premier League Cup for the Royals at the end of the 2013/14 season as well as making six first team appearances between 2013 and 2017.

Kuhl had loan spells at Dundee United last season and Boreham Wood this season but the Royals announced to much surprise that the youngster would be released at the end of his contract.

We understand Kuhl is looking for a club following a trial in Iceland at the end of the season and was getting ‘minutes’ at Larges Lane.

When asked if Kuhl might pull on a Robins shirt during the season, Bracknell boss Mark Tallentire suggested it was very unlikely. He said: “He is a pro, and looking for a club. We just helped him out with some minutes on the pitch. That’s all it was.”
