Pick of the weekend: Woodley United vs AFC Aldermaston

Stuck for footballing choice this weekend? FootballinBracknell will attempt to pick what we think will be the match of the day every Saturday and this week it’s got to be Woodley United at home to AFC Aldermaston.

Why?

A second week as the ‘pick’ for AFC Aldermaston but this time it’s their trip to promotion chasing Woodley United who will take a step closer to the dream of Hellenic Premier Division football with a win.

Aldermaston though have had a quite frankly stunning first season back at step 6 and will be no pushovers as they look to secure a top five spot.

Match details?

It’s a 3pm kick off at Scours Lane which admittedly is a bit of a hike to the other side of Reading, but who doesn’t enjoy watching matches and trains going by?

And an alternative?

Our alternative this weekend is on Sunday. This one is a must win for Ascot United Ladies at home to Barton Rovers in terms of a chance at promotion to the Southern Region Women’s Premier Division and a win would knock one of their two challengers out of the title race.

And in Lucy Holzman-Clarke and Amy Woollard the Yellawomen have two of the divisions top scorers with 30 goals between them in all competitions.
