Bracknell Town’s final first team pre season friendly on Saturday 30th July has been moved to Windsor’s Stag Meadow ground.
The ground has played host to numerous derbies between the clubs in the last few decades, particularly when both sides were in the Ryman and Southern step four leagues with the last competitive tie likely being the 6-0 defeat the Royalists inflicted on Bracknell in 2009.
Since then Bracknell have adapted to life in the Hellenic Football League while Windsor & Eton were wound up in February 2011 due to an unpaid tax bill (Source: BBC News – external link).
Windsor FC were born out of the ashes and took a place in the Combined Counties Premier Division – staying at their famous old Stag Meadow ground due to the site being owned by the Crown Estate – where they have competed for the last five seasons.
