Bracknell Town youngster Connor Thorndike marked his full return from injury on Saturday with five goals in the Robins defeat of Ascot United in the opening round of the FootballinBracknell pre season cup.
The Bracknell youngster missed much of last term after undergoing an arthroscopy on his hip in October and was out until April when he returned for the youth team, scoring in the 3-1 defeat to Uxbridge that saw the Robins relegated from the Allied Counties Youth League Premier Division.
The season started well for Thorndike who made his first team debut against Highmoor IBIS in December 2014. He played for the Robins first team in the early part of last season – coming off the bench in the FA Cup win at Royal Wootton Bassett Town.
Saturday’s pre season fixture marked a real return to form with five of Bracknell’s eight goals against Ascot and you would expect Thorndike to be a big part of Liam Day’s under 21s side now that he is to old to play in the Allied Counties side.
