Midweek: Reading City and Ascot United start County Cup campaigns

City and Yellamen in midweek action along with Holyport and Woodley United

A limited midweek fixture calendar this week but there are games on Monday and Tuesday night to enjoy.

Binfield’s Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup tie has been postponed but both Reading City and Ascot United get their campaigns underway with Second Round fixtures against Reading FC or MK Dons a possibility.

City returned to winning ways at the weekend, beating Lydney Town 3-0 and face former Highmoor Ibis manager Marcus Richardson’s Flackwell Heath on Monday at Scours Lane.

Reading have called up two 16-year-old’s from the clubs Thames Valley Premier League under 23 side. George Kontogiannis and Nathan Jones are both in the squad for the fixture.

The Heathens haven’t had the best start to the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season but will be the more rested team having not played since the 15th September when they beat Cheltenham Saracens 1-0 in the FA Vase.

Evo-Stik Southern League South Division 1 side Thatcham Town will be a big test for Ascot United but it should be the Yellamen who are the more confident side going in to the fixture, the Kingfishers were beaten 5-0 by Highworth Town on Saturday and United sit top of the Hellenic Premier despite a home defeat to Brimscombe & Thrupp.

All Saturday matches kick-off at 3pm, all Sunday matches kick-off at 2pm and all midweek matches kick-off at 7.45pm unless detailed next to the above fixtures. Please always check with the host club before you travel if you are in any doubt.

Monday night:

  • Reading City vs Flackwell Heath (Berks & Bucks County Cup)

Tuesday night:

  • Ascot United vs Thatcham Town (Berks & Bucks County Cup)
  • Holyport vs Woodley United (Hellenic League Division 1 East)
  • Eversley & California vs Knaphill (Combined Counties Division 1)
