There are three games on tonight (Tuesday) in the Hellenic League Division One East, and they all have some local interest.
First up AFC Aldermaston host Woodley United in a local derby at the Aldermaston Recreational Society. The Atom Men had started the season with two wins from two, but that run came to an end on Saturday when a poor performance saw them lose 5-1 to Didcot Town Development, a game they finished with nine men.
Despite an encouraging performance, Woodley also lost at the weekend, being knocked out of the FA Vase 4-2 by Combined Counties Premier Division table toppers Chertsey Town. The Kestrels have only played one league game this season, a 6-4 defeat to Abingdon Town way back on the 4th August. With both sides looking to bounce back from defeats, it could be a great match tonight at the Rec Soc.
Wallingford Town have a tough away trip as they travel to Slough to face early season pace setters Chalvey Sports. The Stabmonks are playing their first season at Step 6 after they finished as champions of the Hellenic League Division Two East last season.
They have adapted well to the step up and currently sit top of the league with seven points from four games. Wally have only played one league game this season but boast a 100% record after they beat Bicester Town 5-4 last month.
Fresh from their FA Vase heroics, Holyport welcome Milton United to Summerleaze Village. The Villagers, who knocked Hellenic Premier Division side Ardley United out of the FA Vase at the weekend, will be looking to improve on their league record of three points in two games.
The Miltonians have so far picked up one point in their two league games and were knocked out of the FA Vase to Hellenic League Division One West side Clanfield (85) on Saturday. Holyport will be hoping for a similar result to when the teams met at the end of last season with the home side running out 4-0 victors on that occasion.
