Bracknell Town will go head to head with Hellenic Premier Division rivals Highworth Town in the final of the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Challenge Cup on Bank Holiday Monday.
The match is being held at Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road – a step four ground until very recently when United dropped in to the Hellenic League.
Where is Northcourt Road?
Abingdon United’s ground is off the A4183 in Abingdon. The best way to get there is down the M4 to junction 13 for Newbury/Chievely and then follow the A34 north.
The ground address is Northcourt Road, Abingdon OX14 1PL.
Getting to the ground
As above, driving is one of the better options with parking at the ground – but if this final is anything like the recent County Cup Final at Windsor expect it to fill up quickly.
There are car parks in the centre of Abingdon, but these are a 20 minute walk from the ground and there don’t appear to be any refreshment venues on the journey.
Trains: Jump on the train at Bracknell Station and change at Reading for Didcot Parkway. There you will need to jump on the X2 bus towards Wallingford.
What sort of side can we expect Bracknell to put out?
It’s been over a week since the Robins last tie so you’d expect a strong tie – particularly as this is the highest profile of the finals Bracknell can compete in this season having already won the County Cup and a potential appearance in the Reading Senior Cup Final.
Dave Hancock would appear to be back from holiday but there are question marks over the suspensions for Carl Davies and Jamie McClurg which we will try to clear up.
The form book
Both sides finished the season strongly with Highworth beating Bracknell on the final day of the season.
Since then the Worthians have won the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup but were beaten 2-1 by Swindon Supermarine in the Wiltshire Senior Cup.
The two sides have only met the two times in the league this season. Highworth winning 2-1 at Bracknell and the Robins winning 2-1 at the Worthians.
