Combined Counties League statement on Windsor FC

Windsor FC will not take part in senior men’s football during the 2025/26 season, the Combined Counties Football League has revealed.

In a statement released on social media, the club – who groundshare at Beaconsfield Town in Buckinghamshire – have withdrawn from the competition.

It had already been noted by Football in Berkshire that the club had not entered this seasons FA Vase competition when the fixtures were released two weeks ago.

A full statement revealed the club were concentrating on a new ground development project:

Windsor FC Withdraw from the League for 2025–2026 Season

The League has today received formal notification from Windsor FC confirming their withdrawal from the competition for the 2025–2026 season.

The club has advised that this decision is part of a strategic shift, as they focus their efforts and resources on an ambitious new ground development project. This initiative is intended to strengthen the club’s long-term foundations and support future growth and sustainability.

The League acknowledges the significant work already undertaken to prepare the fixture list following the delayed release of fixtures for Step 4 and above. While Windsor FC’s withdrawal will cause some disruption, we are working hard to finalise the revised schedule and expect to release fixtures beyond the opening weeks very shortly.

We thank all clubs and supporters for their patience and understanding at this time.

The statement was shared on Wednesday 23rd July and marks the end of the famous Union Jack shirts, for the next season at least. It should be noted, Windsor FC is a different club to Windsor & Eton FC who play in the Combined Counties League Premier Division North.

Windsor finished last season in 21st place after a tense final day of the season when they were leapfrogged by Woodley United. Windsor eventually earned a reprieve from relegation along with Rising Ballers Kensington and FC Deportivo Galicia.

The news of Windsor’s withdrawal will mean the largest Step 6 division in the country will now run with 23 teams rather than 24.
