Maidenhead United have moved quickly to confirm the appointment of Reading FC legend Dave Kitson.
A record-breaker with the Royals, Kitson will take over the manager’s job from Ed Jackson-Norris who announced his departure last week.
A statement released by Maidenhead said: “[We] are delighted to announce that former Premier League forward Dave Kitson has agreed to become manager of Maidenhead United Women with immediate effect.
“Dave is relishing the opportunity to build on the recent success of MUWFC.”
In the same update, Kitson said: “I am delighted to be here. I am looking forward to meeting the players and helping them in their development.”
Kitson’s own professional career began at Cambridge United and he achieved promotion to the Premier League with Reading’s famous 106 point side in 2006. The following season he scored the Royals first Premier League goal in a win over Middlesbrough.
More recently, Kitson has been coaching kids around Reading via his own coaching Academy and was previously the chairman at his first non-league club, Arlsey Town.
Maidenhead United will be looking to bolster their ranks this summer. Any player interested in being part of a new era at the Magpies should contact Tanya Davis-Hussein who is head of Maidenhead’s women’s teams at treasurer@mufcjuniors.co.uk.
