Southern League Central Division One side Beaconsfield Town have made a change in the dugout.
Assistant manager and former Slough Town midfielder Sam Togwell has been placed in interim charge of first-team affairs following the departure of Garry Haylock.
Togwell made 107 appearances for the Rebels between 2018 and 2021 having enjoyed a professional career that took in spells with Crystal Palace, Port Vale, Barnsley and Chesterfield.
A statement announcing ex-Binfield and Windsor manager Haylock’s departure said: “After a positive start to the season, it’s been a difficult period for the men’s first team and with early exits from the FA Cup and FA Trophy, with a winless streak now of 10 games, we clearly find ourselves behind our intended target as things stand albeit early in the season, with 90 points still to play for. We have certainly seen the progression of our young talent coming through and at Hadley on Tuesday night we had two 17-year-olds and three 18-year-olds starting and 3 more coming off the bench; we all recognised this would be a tough challenge but we believe in our young players and the pathway we are building.
“However, whilst having an eye on the long term we as a club must ensure we are competing at first team level and with that in mind the Directors have decided a restructure in our management team is necessary. Garry Haylock who has been instrumental in progressing our young players from our pathway, into the first team squad, has decided to leave the club and we want to express our sincere gratitude to Garry for his contribution over the past year.”
Togwell is the latest former Slough player to make the transition to the dugout with team mate Scott Davies working wonders at the Rebels, meanwhile former boss Jon Underwood recently made the move back into management with Bracknell Town.
