At the end of February Combined Counties League Division One Woodley United signed goalkeeper Conor Clark from Queen’s Park Rangers (QPR) on a short term deal.
The stopper played three times for the Kestrels but Football in Berkshire understands he has now signed a contract with the EFL Championship side.
Clark had already made his mark on social media at the end of 2023, scoring from his own half for QPR under 18s in a 6-0 win over Millwall.
Not wishing to leave Jordan Blake’s side in the lurch, Ryan Hudson – Rangers Head of Academy goalkeeping has joined up with the club to offer cover while the Kestrels sort things out.
Hudson made his debut in the 3-1 defeat to Westside on Saturday, getting his hand to a first half penalty and pulling off an impressive full stretch fingertip save in the second.
Woodley United General Manager Mark Rozzier said in praise of the Football League side: “I want to thank QPR for trusting us with their young goalkeeper and for allowing Ryan to join us at short notice – something they’ve no need to do, but they’ve certainly not left us in the lurch!”
Woodley United no stranger to Queen’s Park Rangers links

Eagle-eyed Berkshire football watchers will be no strangers to QPR links with Woodley United – several seasons ago none other than Gareth Ainsworth was turning out for the side while manager of Wycombe Wanderers during the 2019/20 season.

The Kestrels have also had a professional teams goalkeeping coach between the sticks for them before. during the same season as Ainsworth’s tenure, Reading FC Women’s goalkeeper coach Craig McCreeth was the number one at The Rivermoor with Royals player Rachael Laws reversing her role with McCreeth in the FA WSL.
