A mere ten days after Reading confirmed the signing of Hibernian midfielder Ava Kuyken, she’s hit the Royals headlines again as the club confirm she will be out for season after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

General Manager, Brooke Chaplen said in the club statement, “We are all incredibly disappointed for Ava, but her health and well-being are our top priorities. Our medical team will provide her with the best possible care and support as she embarks on her recovery journey. We have no doubt that Ava’s determination and resilience will see her come back even stronger.”
It’s not known when the injury occurred, however the Arsenal youth academy product did not feature in the starting XI or on the bench for Reading during their recent friendly with National League side Portsmouth in which they drew 2-2.
Concerns will no doubt be raised by fans as to how the club will support Ava going forward after the recent announcement that the team would be going part-time after relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2022/23 season.
We wish Ava all the best in her road to recovery and hope to see her pull on a Royals shirt soon.
