Reading City’s ‘yes man’ Michael Butcher makes u-turn

The Cityzens have appointed a new assistant boss

Reading City’s hunt for a new Assistant Manager is over after the Cityzens unveiled their new number two with a brilliant video throwing shade at an anonymous Twitter account.

Revealing the news that Butcher was returning on Social Media, manager Simon Johnson was videoed taking a call from his former assistant, asking “Are you willing to say yes to everything I say and do?”

The video was in response to a social media post that had suggested Johnson was looking for a ‘yes man’. Irritatingly for this article, the account @n0nleaguelive has now been taken down.

Anyway, Butch is back, and the world is right again. Here’s what the man himself had to say: “It’s been a weird week but after a few days of thinking, weighing things up I just didn’t want to leave. The club means a lot to me professionally and personally, and I realised my football future was with the Cityzens. Having called Lawsey (Martin Law, Club Chairman) and Simmy (Simon Johnson, First Team Manager), I am delighted to be back on board and cannot wait to get going again.”
