Former Sandhurst Town and Woodley United manager Michael Herbert has been appointed first team manager at Sheerwater.

The Combined Counties League Premier Division South side made the announcement on May 1st following the departure of Peter Ruggles after seven years.

Speaking to the Sheers website, Herbert said: “We are absolutely delighted to be joining Sheerwater. The club has enjoyed a lot of success and with the excellent facilities at the new ground in place, this is a really exciting challenge for us. We will work extremely hard to keep driving this club forward and can’t wait to get started for pre-season.”

Herbert previously lead Woodley to promotion to the Hellenic League Premier Division and pushed Sandhurst Town to 6th and 4th placed finishes at Step 6.

Spartan South Midlands League side Penn are currently recruiting for a new manager to replace Herbert.
