The first thing you notice when you walk through the gates in to Reading City Football Club’s Rivermoor Ground on Stadium Way is the car park.
It is (or rather was) a classic non league football club car park, full of stones and potholes, or rather craters – often full of muddy water.
As Cityzens Chairman Martin Law said on our visit: “We’ve used the break well, it’s given us a chance to do a lot of improvements at the ground, but I’m knackered!”
The improvement program at The Rivermoor – lead by the Club Treasurer and Facilities Manager Victoria Pyke – has seen a number of changes, including a resurfacing of the car park which the club are looking for some help to finish off.
The club suffered a setback following a break-in in early July, but had certainly bounced back following Football in Berkshire’s visit with a new outside bar area a highlight.
Another highlight was the pitch which continues to improve and was lush with grass when we walked across it.
