Two Berkshire goalkeepers hit the headlines in October, winning their respective clubs player of the month awards.
Binfield stopper Joe Williams picked up the Moles award for September – which is voted for by the clubs supporters – following the 4-2 win over Burnham on the 18th October.
18-year-old Williams, formerly at Ross County on a modern apprenticeship, made his Binfield debut against Reading City on 26th August and cemented the number one spot with four penalty saves in a shootout with Burnham in September.
Speaking to Football in Berkshire at the time, Williams boss Roger Herridge said: “Joe has been absolutely fantastic. He’s 18-years-old, learning his trade but with a big future ahead of himself and a reputation growing by the game.”
Slightly further afield, former Ascot United and Bracknell Town goalkeeper Chris Grace has been impressing for step 3 side Hendon who play in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Divison South and picked up the clubs player of the month award for September.
Grace, who joined the Greens on loan toward the end of the 2018/19 season from Bracknell and signed permanently in the summer, making 15 appearances so far.
A post on hendonfc.net said: “Chris Grace has won the September Player of the Month poll with 46% of the vote following a string of fine performances between the sticks.”
Grace came through the youth setup at Bracknell and has played senior football for Reading Town, Ascot, Binfield and the Robins.
