Jon Urry has left Maidenhead United after 25 years of service.

The legendary Magpies kitman – who originally joining the club as physio quickly gained popularity among supporters and club staff for his witty humour, fascinating anecdotes and his passion for his beloved Brighton and Hove Albion.

During his time at the club, Jon saw two promotions and seven county cups as well as the Full Members’ Cup in 1997.

An appearance on TV against Portsmouth revealed his collection of airline sickness bags to the country, alongside his time working for the band, Thin Lizzy. A cult-following was born, with the popular ‘Urry Update’ becoming a regular feature on the club’s social media. There was even a ‘Jon Urry fanpage’ on Instagram!

However, it wasn’t just his insights that made Jon a club legend – a fact hammered home by the numerous posts from players and fans past and present that followed the announcement.

Above all, Jon carried a positive, hardworking attitude wherever he went. His commitment to the club was phenomenal, and he always put time aside for others.

Jon would always make sure the dressing room was clean after any fixture, home or away, win or lose. No matter the occasion, he would do his job to the highest possible standard, whether it be a high-profile FA Cup fixture against EFL opposition, or a pre-season friendly behind closed doors.

Jon’s dedication to the club will be missed.
