Football in Berkshire joins social media boycott

In line with what many of our local clubs are doing, and something we believe strongly in as a group, Football in Berkshire will be joining ‘football’ in adhering to the social media boycott from 3 pm on Friday 30th April to midnight on Monday 3rd May.

Football in Berkshire, and almost all of the clubs we work with use social media in a positive way, to highlight the brilliance of grassroots, women’s and non-league football. It is effectively our shop window and our biggest opportunity to get information out there.

However, when a group of companies can spot a copyright infringement within seconds but barely lifts a finger to stop vile racist abuse, it makes no sense to us whatsoever and it is time to try and make that point.

As well as us, the likes of Bracknell Town, Ascot United, Maidenhead United and Binfield – who have an FA Vase Quarter Final to negotiate – are joining the boycott.

Our website will continue to run, you will be able to go directly to it and see updates over the weekend. But we will not be posting on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram during that period. Thanks for your understanding.
