His club are in the Buildbase FA Vase Final for the first time but after a fourth penalty shootout win in this seasons competition, Moles chairman Bob Bacon admitted he still can’t watch them.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire’s Neil Graham and Rob Davies, Bacon said, alongside Club Secretary Rob Challis: “It’s a great feeling but I didn’t watch any of the penalties!”

“I have to come back and ask someone and catch up but the fact everyone is very happy means we’ve done it!”

Nerves, superstition, call it what you will, also caught up with Challis who admitted he’d not even seen the equaliser: “I’d been in the dressing room since 80 minutes so I didn’t even see our goal!”

Bacon said: “I think we deserved it over all but the conditions were difficult out there, you only have to look at the way the flags are flapping around the ground, swirling one way then the other.”
