The road to Fairford: How Ardley United and Binfield got to the final

Five rounds, a penalty shoot out and plenty of goals

As Ardley United and Binfield prepare to go head to head in the final of the 2018/19 Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup, Football in Bracknell thought it would have a look back at how both sides reached the final.

A few stats, Ardley have played one more game after holders Binfield received a bye from the first round and have score 21 goals – scoring six goals in each of their first to third round ties.

Binfield have 13 goals and came through a penalty shootout in third round at Brimscombe & Thrupp before overcoming Windsor and then Ascot United to reach the final.

Binfield – BYE

Ardley United 6 – 1 Cirencester Town Development

Second Round

Woodley United 1 – 3 Binfield

Ardley United 6 – 0 AFC Wallingford

Third Round

Brimscombe & Thrupp 3 – 3 Binfield (Binfield win 4-2 on penalties)

Ardley United 6 – 2 Thornbury Town

Quarter Final

Windsor 1 – 4 Binfield

Thames Rangers 1 – 2 Ardley United

Semi Final

Ascot United 1 – 3 Binfield (AET)

Ardley United 1 – 0 Flackwell Heath
