It’s said that these days a that football is a squad game. Having the ability to rest players, or to replace injured or suspended players is vital over a long, hard season. It appears that Hellenic League managers agree with this sentiment as there are currently 661 players registered to play for the twenty clubs in the Hellenic League Premier division..

Of the local teams it’s Binfield with 35 who have the biggest pool of players to select from, while local rivals Bracknell Town and Ascot United have registered 29.
Interestingly it is the two clubs who have associations with larger clubs in their town, Oxford City Nomads and Brackley Town Saints, who have the smallest squad sizes with Nomads only having registered 21 players so far this season.
As it stands – Highworth Town (second in the chart) are top of the league in real terms while Brimscombe & Thrupp are 7th and Burnham are 18th.
In the Hellenic League Division One East Wokingham & Emmbrook have registered an astonishing 50 players while Sandhurst Town (31), AFC Aldermaston (31) and Virginia Water (26) have smaller squads to select from.
We’re still only in mid-August so I’m sure there are many more player registrations to come through over the coming weeks and months. To keep up to date with all the latest news keep your eyes on Football in Bracknell.
