Richard Milam has been going through his scrap book again and sent us this latest offering from his full Bracknell Town debut that featured a brace from the legendary Jimmy Woodcock.
Richard writes: Today’s offering comes from Saturday 20th March 1976.
Yes, 44 years ago! Here I am at 19 years old making my Bracknell Town first team full debut. I was only told on the day as my good friend Graham Harvey, who I played youth and county football with, had not recovered from his injury. So I was starting.
We also had another debutant on the day, one, Andi Beales the goal keeper.
Strangely I first met Andi Beales, when I was just 10, on a summer soccer school at Bulmershe run by Reading FC. Coached by a chap called Dave Bacuzzi.
The game itself, I remember it being a very hot afternoon and the pace of the game seemed very quick on a hard bouncy pitch. I started right side of midfield.
Bealesy had a good game. He went on to better things. Playing at Reading and a couple of other professional teams.
We won the game 2-1, Jimmy Woodcock added to his goal tally with two more goals. In a season where he scored 48 goals. 18 Penalties and the rest he scored from inside the box. Great goal scorer!
The team played a great game on the day as you can see from the newspaper report.
We all got high marks from the reporter. I was more than happy with my 8 on debut.
