Langley v Holmer Green – Combined Counties League Division One on 12th October 2024
I arrived early when visiting Honeycroft on my first visit to Langley, so I wandered into the clubhouse for a cider and to check out their comprehensive range on the menu (although possibly missing a vegetarian option other than jacket potatoes).
Looking at their selections I noticed a burger described as “huge” a word which always captures my attention when it comes to food. A double scotch beef burger with two rashers of bacon topped with halloumi fries, sliced onion, lettuce, with onion rings on top and served in a toasted brioche bun with chips for £10. Challenge accepted!
All the food in the clubhouse is freshly cooked so there is a little wait but boy was it worth it. The burger was delicious although there was a little deconstructing to perform to make it manageable to eat! The portion of chips was more than generous too, so all in all, it’s a fine example of the growing competition within non-league clubs to produce excellent match day fayre.
There is also a burger van inside the ground if you don’t have the time to wait for the specials to be cooked, serving cheeseburgers, hot dogs and more at a very reasonable price so you are very well catered for at Langley if you’re feeling a little peckish before, during or after the match!
