Reading Women have secured their first win of the season since their demotion from the Barclays Women’s Championship to Tier 5 of the Women’s Football Pyramid.
The Royals, who play in the Premier Division of the Southern Region Women’s Football League, welcomed Selsey to Arbour Park as they looked to pick themselves off the bottom of the table. The win has catapulted them from tenth to eighth with Selsey & Badshot Lea trailing just below them.
A brace from Lucy Bolitho (37’, 62’), former Millwall & Brentford striker, ensured Reading took all three points in the Sunday afternoon tie. Selsey looked to have the game under control when they went 1-0 up in the 14th minute but Reading hit back in both halves with Mia Bradley and Sumayah Zayadi pushing to add to the scoreline but Bolitho’s strikes the difference.
Next up, Reading will head to seventh placed Sholing in League Cup action on Sunday 26th January.
