Over the past few years Virginia Water FC has been a quiet success story on the Berkshire/Surrey border. They have slowly progressed from Step 7 football in the Surrey County League into the National League system and now find themselves at the top end of Step 5.

Sadly for Virginia Water, the progress to the National League system meant moving away from their “The Timbers” home into a groundshare at Stag Meadow in Windsor. In recent years they have managed to leapfrog both Windsor and Windsor & Eton and now sit one and two divisions above both of those clubs.

While it’s been a real success story on the pitch, they’ve also been busy with off the pitch matters, with an application for a new home going into the local council in recent weeks.

The new facility to the south-east of Virginia Water should allow the club the security of their own home within close proximity of the town.

The application is for “The relocation of Virginia Water Community Football Club in conjunction with the erection of 30 dwellings”. The location is at Fernbank Farm Bridge Lane not far from the M3.

The plans include the erection of a new club house with external seating. The main pitch will be 3G, with an accompanying five-a-side practice pitch. It’s definitely an exciting time for Virginia Water FC and the final step for the club in becoming a stable non-league club at Step 5 or even higher.

The club have organised an open meeting on the evening of Wednesday 20th March where local residents can find out about the plans. More details on the plans here.
