It was double joy for Woodley in the Sultan Cup over the last couple of weekends.
United and Saints lifted the two trophies on offer in the competition that was played out during April and May on a group/Champions League basis to provide teams with football following another Covid-hit season, replacing the league campaign that ended short for the second season in succession.
All but one semi-final and the two cup finals were concluded ahead of this season’s start and, first up, Woodley Saints defeated Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW in an entertaining Senior Cup semi-final (5-3). Woodley Saints went on to play Finchampstead Athletic in the Final last weekend that finished 3-1 to the Saints.

The previous weekend saw Woodley United defeat FC Showcase 3-2.
The competition proved to be a huge success providing teams with much-missed football to return to. The League were delighted to secure the sponsorship of the Sultan Balti Palace at Wokingham for the competition.
