Uhlsport Hellenic League Divison 1 East outfit Woodley United have appointed former Maidenhead United Academy Under 18 coach Christian Parker as the club’s first team manager.

Parker steps up from the role of manager of United’s ‘Royals’ team which competed in the Thames Valley Premier League in 2020/21.  Parker – who has also co-ordinated Thames Valley Police’s forces’ side for a number of years – enjoyed back-to-back club record runs to the Third Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup in his two years in charge of Maidenhead’s now-defunct Allied Counties team.

Parker’s coaching has helped develop the likes of Bradley Keetch and Reece Smith who are now regulars in Alan Devonshire’s matchday squad as well as Marko Borkovic who was snapped up by Derby County’s Academy last season having impressed in the FA Youth Cup matches.

Talking exclusively to Football in Berkshire, Parker said: “It is a privilege to be appointed the First Team manager of Woodley United FC.  Having been part of the club over the last 12 months it is evident that this club has the potential to reach heights not yet realised, therefore the role and opportunity was something that I couldn’t turn down.  The ethos and culture that has been developed across all age groups is very impressive and it will give me the springboard to deliver success for the first team squad along with all senior and junior age groups.

“I am looking forward to the new challenge and see this as a long-term project that will help the club to realise the success it so richly deserves. I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce my assistant manager as Nick Weedon, who I have worked closely with over the last 12 months.  Nick and I have a vision for the club and throughout this journey we will achieve success through the hard work and determination we will put into the role.”
