Why Football in Berkshire is asking you to ‘buy it a coffee’

A little explainer

I wanted to write something very quickly to explain what all this ‘buying Football in Berkshire a coffee’ is that’s on our social media pages.

It’s called Ko-Fi, and it is a service that allows readers to make a small, one off £5 contribution (roughly the price of a big decent coffee) toward the running of the site, and one I thought it might be worth us trying it out.

I want to just make one thing 100% clear. The site isn’t in any financial difficulties and is not in any danger of stopping.

It does though cost around £600 – £800 a year to run, what with server space and all the add-on’s that go with it, some of that is covered by the local business adverts on display but some of it isn’t.

I have been asked a few times by people if there was any way they could contribute to the upkeep of the site, and setting up a Ko-Fi account seemed like a quick, easy and no pressure way to allow people to do that.

Basically, if you like what we do and you feel like you’d like to make a small contribution we’d love that, and if you don’t, well that’s okay to.

Football in Berkshire is dedicated to getting more people interested in their local club and involved in the grassroots game. It’s run, written and photographed for by volunteers and we hope you enjoy reading it as much as we do writing it.

We are still looking for local advertisers as well, it’s all very reasonably priced and you can find out more here.
