Wokingham & Embrook were convincing winners at Lowther Road on Saturday as they defeated Abingdon Town by four goals to nil.

The Sumas took a very early lead when a free-kick from Nick Bateman was nodded in by Kylo Atkinson, his second for Wokingham this season.

It was the familiar figure of Luke Scope who finally scored Wokingham’s second after a string of missed chances, scrambling it home after a cross from Dan Carter.

The sides went in at half-time with Wokingham dominant, but only two goals to the good.

Fortunes didn’t improve for Abingdon Town after half-time as Kylo Atkinson chipped in his second before Dan Best completed the victory with Wokingham’s fourth. Abingdon Town still had time to have a player sent off, but the game ended 4-0.

Wokingham & Emmbrook have enjoyed some good victories of late having beaten Bracknell Town Reserves 4-0, Langley 6-1 and Woodley United 6-1. They currently lie in fifth place in the Hellenic League Division One East with games in hand over the clubs above them.
