Football in Bracknell recently listed all the players associated with Hellenic League clubs to win honours for England along with a few players who’d picked up international honours for other countries.

We may shortly have another one to add after former Ascot United youngster Brogan Moore was called up to a recent Scotland squad for a tournament in Spain.

The International Friendly Tournament took place over the weekend of 28th February to 4th March and saw the Scots face Switzerland, Holland and China at La Manga.

Moore, who plays as a central attacking midfielder for Reading Women’s Academy side was named in the travelling squad on February 19th, and while she didn’t feature off the bench, she was training alongside players from sides like Hibernian, Celtic and Rangers as well as Charlotte Newsham at Manchester United.

The results from the trip were:

Switzerland 0-0 Scotland
Scotland 1-4 Holland
Scotland 1-0 China

A little bit about Brogan Moore

A post on the Ascot United website by Neal Jeffs revealed a little bit about the former Yellawoman.

The 17 year old attacking midfielder was part of Ascot United’s very successful girls’ team that won the treble in 2015 and was also the top league scorer with over 50 goals.

Brogan joined Ascot at age 5 and started in the boys’ section before heading off to America for a year with her family. On her return, she stepped into Steve Yates’ girls team before playing a year up in Darrel Evans’ squad and went on to win the league in her second season back in the UK.

The following year, 2014/15, was a historic treble season for the Under 15’s was and it was then in her final year with the club she helped the team retain the Cup and finish second in the league.

Brogan was spotted by Reading Football Club whilst playing in the boys’ section at age 8, and signed that year for their girls’ section at U10. Apart from a year out in the States, she has been ever-present at Reading FC.

Last season was her first in Reading’s Reserve/Development setup and she finished as the club’s top goalscorer with 20 goals; a great achievement for a 16 year old in an U23 league.

Brogan qualifies for Scotland via her mum Karen, and the club couldn’t be more delighted for her.
