A former Portsmouth and Reading goalkeeper with Premier League and Championship experience has joined the coaching staff at Ascot United.
Jamie Ashdown has joined the Yellamen to work with the first and youth team goalkeepers, and sessions are planned for junior ‘keepers as well.
United have Lee Allen and Sam Gray vying for the number one spot at the current Hellenic League Premier Division table toppers and both should now benefit from Ashdown’s experience.

Ashdown came through the youth setup at Reading and made 13 appearances for the first team between 1998 and 2004, deputising for Marcus Hahnemann.
Reading sent the goalkeeper out on loan on several occasions during that time with spells at Arsenal and Bournemouth before joining Portsmouth in 2004 and making over a hundred appearances on the South Coast.
During his time at Fratton Park, Ashdown saw off the challenges of a Euro 2004 winner in Konstantinos Chalkias and former Liverpool ‘keeper Sander Westerveld as well as competing with England international David James.
Most recently, Ashdown made five appearances for Oxford United in 2015.
