Bracknell Town’s refurbished ground is only 18 months old but that hasn’t stopped the Bostik League club from continuing improvements this summer.

Larges Lane has been in regular use during the close season with four CONIFA matches played at the ground as well as the Bracknell Sunday League cup finals amongst others but the club have still managed to start work on a series of improvements.

The biggest of these developments at Bracknell Town’s ground will undoubtedly be the new covered area toward the housing development end of the ground. We spoke to chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse who said that a new covered area was being installed by the containers and the area would have a new tiered standing section.

The Bracknell chairman also said that new ball stop nets were being installed on the far side of the ground and the one’s behind the goal were being increased in height.

Elsewhere at the ground new outside male and female toilets were being installed. There was minor cosmetic work to the club house to be completed along with additional work to the toilets in the club house which included new hand dryers and extraction to help with the increased crowds.

A brief redevelopment history

At the end of the 2015/16 season, Bracknell’s famous bobbly (admittedly not so much in recent years) was ripped up and replaced with a state of the art artificial surface. As well as a new pitch, the playing area was moved up over what was the Quinton End (closest to the Mount Pleasant estate) to create room for a new housing development on Larges Lane.

The refurbishment of the ground saw the clubs four stands demolished and one brand new seated area added adjacent to the clubs bar. The tea bar and boardroom were also demolished and replaced with more permanent brick structures.

The changes mean that Larges Lane is now open and in use by the clubs many teams and outside parties for most of the day, seven days a week, contributing significantly to the impressive growth in spectators for first team matches.
